Bangkok Welcomes Dibbangkok, A New Landmark for Contemporary Art

Inaugural Exhibition "Invisible Presence" Explores Memory and Human Condition

The first international contemporary art museum in Bangkok, Dibbangkok, is set to officially open its doors on December 21. Founded by Bhirati Osathanugrah, the museum is inspired by the dream of her father, Petch Osathanugrah, and reimagined for the contemporary world.

A Revitalized Architectural Gem

The museum is housed in a prominent riverside building originally constructed in the 1980s. The structure has been completely transformed through a redesign by WHY Architecture in collaboration with Thai firm A49 Architect. This ambitious project converted the former godown, or warehouse, into a dynamic new space for artistic learning and exhibition.

Inaugural Exhibition: "Invisible Presence"

Marking the museum's grand opening is the premiere exhibition, titled "Invisible Presence." This significant showcase features works by a diverse group of leading Thai and international contemporary artists. The exhibition is designed to be a multi

  • sensory experience, inviting visitors to explore themes of memory and the human condition.

    • The exhibition serves as an exploration of memory and things that cannot be seen.

    • It focuses on the profound and complex issues surrounding the human experience.

    • "Invisible Presence" will be on display until August 3, 2029.

More Than a Museum: Café and Bar

Complementing the art experience, Dibbangkok will also feature a café and bar named "วัตถุดิบ" (Ingredients). This venue will highlight a mix of local and international ingredients, offering visitors a place to reflect and socialize.

The opening of Dibbangkok represents a major advancement for Bangkok's cultural scene, establishing a permanent home for significant international contemporary art dialogue.
